  • I am My Hobby

Have you ever noticed that very often people will become obsessed with a hobby or activity almost as soon as they pick it up?

I can't help but notice that when a person first starts building muscles they'll start gripping things really tight such as the steering wheel of their car.  It just feels so stinkin' good to flex that muscle that they just might have to rip the steering wheel right off of there.  You'll see someone who is working their abs constantly rubbing their stomach to feel their toned abs.  I know it feels good getting toned but I can't help but laugh at some of these people.  I'll admit that P90X had me going around squatting more than usual to feel my newly toned legs but I'm not doing it in public. I think I'll accidentally drop my keys in aisle 9 so I can slowly squat down and show these off.

I've also noticed that a lot of people that do road races seem to think that the clothes they wear to run in are appropriate attire for all their daily activities.  You'll see some of these people at the grocery store on a Sunday night in short shorts, a stop watch, tank top, sports glasses, and a water bottle.  These are usually people who have just ran their first road race and decided that it was time to spend a fortune on all kinds of unnecessary running gear.  "I think I may run 1 mile today, better get all geared up".

I'm not saying that some things aren't necessary and fun.  I'm just saying that I think some people take things a little tooooo far.

Just because I like gardening does not mean I'm going to walk around with a flower printed on every t shirt and a purse shaped like a water pot.

Just because you have a camoflauge hat and a rifle does not make you a hunter.

Just because you are drinking a gatorade and have athletic clothes on does not mean you are an athlete...or even athletic.

I think you get my drift.

  • My Destiny

    Bumpy Road

I was recently told that a foolish man chooses the road he wants to take and accepts his destiny but that a wise man chooses his destiny and accepts the road.

Sometimes the road has bumps in it.  Sometimes you have to go up hill.  No matter how bumpy it gets, no matter how hilly, no matter how many ups and downs the wise man reaches his destiny.

Often I find that in order to do God's will for my life I'm not always happy with the path he wants me to take.  Making sacrifices is not always easy.  I know though, that in the end, I will be happy with the road I took.

Here's to everyone choosing the right destiny for their life and accepting the road.

  • Nothing's Missing

    b179411783

Have you ever went into the kitchen to make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich?  You go in, get out the peanut butter, get out the jelly, go to get the bread and it's not there?  You were having this wonderful craving now what do you do?  You had it all pictured in your head but now you have to think of something else.

Do you really think whoever made the BLT was originally wanting a sandwich that did not involve a beef patty or a piece of chicken?  Still isn't it a great sandwich?

Do you really think that whoever invented the "naked burrito" at Qdoba's was really wanting just the pile of rice with chicken, beans, sour cream, etc. on it with out the tortilla?  Still, it's one of my favorites when I go there.

Do you ever feel something is missing in your life?  You pictured the cute little house, awesome spouse, cute little kids, the picket fence, etc.  That may not be what you have though.  Are you discontent because that's what you pictured?  Maybe, that's just what the world told you was the perfect plan.  Maybe if you didn't listen to what everyone else's idea of a perfect life would be you could look around and realize you've got the perfect dish.  It may be missing the patty, or the tortilla shell but WOW...it's even better than you expected!

  • The Beauty of Google

Last weekend I woke up at around 5:10am to take a shower.  I was getting ready to head out to some yardsales.  While I was in the shower I spit.  I noticed my spit was a brownish color.  I then spit again in my hand to get a good look at it.  I'm starting to freak a little now.

My mom is a nurse so I decide I need to page her at the hospital to go over my symptoms with her.  When I talked to her she told me that if I started feeling really bad or if I got a fever to call the doctor.

Next, I go to brush my teeth.  Every time I spit out the toothpaste I saw more brownish stuff (I'm thinking dried up blood).  Wondering if my sinuses were the issue or a bloody nose I blew my nose...it was clear as could be.  I then stick out my tongue to get a good look and it is stained a total brown color!!!

At this point I'm feeling a little woozy.  I think something doesn't quite feel right about me.  I may be dying I think...I mean we're all dying but maybe mine was at a faster pace than everyone else's.

I ate macaroni and cheese and a diet mountain dew the night before and that was around 6:30pm...nothing brown.

As I'm waiting for my mother in law to come pick me up I decide to key my symptoms into google.  First thing that popped up was a girl who had woke up with a brown tongue and later discovered it was due to a pepto bismol tablet she had taken the night before...WHAT?  I took one the night before too...wooohooooo, I'm going to live!!!

I saved myself tons in labwork, doctor bills, etc. by using google.  I would have went around all day Saturday making my family think I was going to die and suffering from pains that only existed because my tore up mind told me I was dying.

So, to all my family who think I use the internet too often...think again!!!

  • Cheating Men

You complain to him that he doesn't do the sweet things that your friends husband does...(you make him feel incompetent).

You complain that all he ever wants to do is have sex and you push him away...(you make him feel unwanted/unloved)...

You then complain that he never acts interested in you as you answer the door with your hair in a wad, sweat pants, and frown on your face. (He doesn't think you want him anyways after being rejected a dozen times and you obviously aren't trying too hard yourself).

You cry to your friends because he had an affair.

I'm not saying cheating is right.  I don't think it is.  I am saying it can, in many cases (not all), be avoided.

In most failed relationships two people are in the wrong.  So instead of pointing fingers it's time to look at how you can improve your relationship yourself.

According to most experts when cheating happens in a relationship it usually happens at a time when both people in the relationship were unhappy.  So if you're unhappy you should self check to make sure you are trying to be the best mate you can be before attacking and making things even worse.

@niki296 - small towns are great. I live next to Eastern Ky University so I'm in a busy town most of the time. So I guess you're probably atleast an hour away from me. Must be nice for getting to the Smokies fast.
