I am My Hobby
Have you ever noticed that very often people will become obsessed with a hobby or activity almost as soon as they pick it up?
I can't help but notice that when a person first starts building muscles they'll start gripping things really tight such as the steering wheel of their car. It just feels so stinkin' good to flex that muscle that they just might have to rip the steering wheel right off of there. You'll see someone who is working their abs constantly rubbing their stomach to feel their toned abs. I know it feels good getting toned but I can't help but laugh at some of these people. I'll admit that P90X had me going around squatting more than usual to feel my newly toned legs but I'm not doing it in public. I think I'll accidentally drop my keys in aisle 9 so I can slowly squat down and show these off.
I've also noticed that a lot of people that do road races seem to think that the clothes they wear to run in are appropriate attire for all their daily activities. You'll see some of these people at the grocery store on a Sunday night in short shorts, a stop watch, tank top, sports glasses, and a water bottle. These are usually people who have just ran their first road race and decided that it was time to spend a fortune on all kinds of unnecessary running gear. "I think I may run 1 mile today, better get all geared up".
I'm not saying that some things aren't necessary and fun. I'm just saying that I think some people take things a little tooooo far.
Just because I like gardening does not mean I'm going to walk around with a flower printed on every t shirt and a purse shaped like a water pot.
Just because you have a camoflauge hat and a rifle does not make you a hunter.
Just because you are drinking a gatorade and have athletic clothes on does not mean you are an athlete...or even athletic.
I think you get my drift.

I'm glad I don't have hobbies with which to become obsessed. =)
You said it, girlfriend! I hate when people are obnoxious about their hobbies! Is it really necessary to wear your complete riding costume (complete with jodhpurs and helmet) into the post office? I think not.
lol, so true
p.s. did you get a haircut?
@AibellFaeire - obsession is not a good thing...unless it's perfume and then I guess some people may like it.
@MakinzyKrysteen - hahaaa...yeah, atleast take the helmet off.
@StewieIsMyHero - I got these stinking bangs about 3 months ago and have been trying to make them look longer by cutting the front of my hair to help them blend...ugh! If you were thinking about bangs make sure you put a LOT of thought into it...they are a pain. I'm going to let my hair grow I do believe, it's just taking a long time.
I am SO not an athlete... oy.
Haha, so true.
Ahh, yes, the bangs of death. I've gotten bangs before and I didn't like them. Everyone else said they looked good, but they were such a pain and made my forehead get really hot. I have swoop bangs right now, but the ones before were straight across bangs. Good luck growing your hair out!
It is humorous. And, it is sad...that we want to have value to others and we reject the gear of the Blood of the Lamb.
As if that weren't enough.
This was funny, because I've never thought about it before but it's true.
To be fair, though, when you're doing something a lot and just running an errand sometimes it really is easier to just run the errand in your gear than to change clothes just to do the errand. I know when I was a dancer I never would have seen the point in wasting that extra half hour just to go home and change to go to the post office. Granted, I at least put on some sweat pants or soccer shorts when going out but as hot as it gets where I live, anything more would have been stifling. So it was common to see me in the store or post office in my rehearsal outfits. And on those days I had my toe shoes tied to my bag? It wasn't to show off - it was because it was too hot outside and the heat would have damaged the toe boxes, those shoes are expensive!
CLEAN UP IN AISILE 9!
I think you should just use a watering can as your purse. That would be phenominal!
This made me laugh because that describes me perfectly right now! I am completely obsessed with finding a way to make some money online/home. I have dedicated way too much time to it! lol
I think you should have your husband video tape you doing those squats so we can enjoy those legs of yours!!
Yep! And a mouse in the cookie jar is still a mouse.
you notice alot of stuff. lol
I'm wondering how you are your own hobby?
I think the people who dress up in the running clothes during the evening/afternoon who've clearly not run are hysterical.
And P90X?
KICKS MY BUTT. :D Props to you.
Too funny...but sadly true...

yeah, i got it. got the point across. hmm...sometimes it is quite a wonder why people would spend so much on things just to do that particular activity, only to realise after a while that they'd spent unnecessarily. this especially applies to those short-lived hobbies. perhaps for the longer sustained hobbies, i would buy the reason they gave, as something to inspire them to continue doing it. whether it is lame or not, it all depends on individual eventually.
The only hobby I'm obsessed with is Xanga. And I may have taken it too far, when I made 3 t-shirts that I carefully drew on (fabric glitter and all) the words "Read me, Rec me, Love me!"
